"Fields" is the third album and fourth solo release of Axel Kruse. The tracks were made between the 2013 - 2017 and are about different topics. The tracks are not about directly about a relationshsip, but about the questions that arise from one. The tracks are the search for a balance between the different poles of our lives.

 

Some themes of the album are balance, happieness, the loss of people, growing old and the overcoming of bad habits.

 

Musically, "Fields" shows the full rnage of Axel Kruses Biography, ranging from traditional songwriting, celtic folk to indie-rock, mixed with the known sound- and songstructures of Axel Kruse. All artists featured on the album are longtime friends of Axel Kruse and certainly did leave their mark on the record. Dirk Bewig finds, once more, the right frame and room for "Fields". SOmething new on the album are fieldsrecordings, sounds that Axel Kruse gathered on personally meaningful places. They add a certain densitiy to the soundscape and invites the listener ear to meander. "Fields" is a slowly produced album, without time preasure, representing Axel Kruses current relationship with his music. However, new songs are already in the making.

 

One can understand "Fields" as the third entry into a trilogy. "Stones" was a moody album, about removing obstacles or stones from ones path. "Open Doors" cleared the way for "Fields".

„Fields“ ist das dritte Album und die vierte Solo-Veröffentlichung von Axel Kruse. Die Songs sind zwischen 2013 – 2017 entstanden und bearbeiten inhaltlich verschieden Felder. Es geht in ihnen nicht direkt um konkrete Beziehungserfahrungen, sondern um sich daraus ergebene Fragen. Sie suchen nach einer Möglichkeit der Balance zwischen den verschiedenen Polen im Leben.

Die thematischen Felder sind Balance, Zufriedenheit, Verlust von Menschen, Älter-Werden, Vermeidung von schädlichen Mustern u.a.

Musikalisch sind auch auf „Fields“ wieder sämtliche Einflüsse Kruses Musikerbiographie vorhanden. Klassisches Songwriting, keltischer Folk, „Indie-Rock“ vermengen sich in einer für ihn typischen Sound- und Songstruktur. Die Gäste auf diesem Album sind allesamt langjährige Weggefährten und setzen ihre Akzente. Dirk Bewig findet einmal mehr für jeden Song den passenden Raum und Rahmen. Neu an „Fields“ sind die songverbindenden Fieldrecordings, die Kruse an ihm wichtigen Orten selbst gesammelt hat. Sie verdichten die Atmosphäre und öffnen Raum für weitere Assoziationen. „Fields“ ist ein langsam gewachsenes, ohne Zeitdruck fertig gestelltes Album, welches den Stand der Dinge von Kruses Musik repräsentiert, während neue Songs und Themen schon wieder ihren Weg weitergehen.

"Fields" kann man also dritten Eintrag in eine Trilogie sehen. „Stones“ war ein dunkles Album, durch welches Steine aus dem Weg geräumt wurden. In „Open Doors“ wurden Türen geöffnet, durch die der Weg auf die „Fields“ möglich wurde.

Unsere Wege werden oft geprägt von Ängsten und Befürchtungen. „Corridor“ handelt von der Möglichkeit, diese Ängste anzunehmen und mit ihnen umzugehen.

Our lives are often molded by fear and uncertainty. "CORRIDOR" deals with the our capacity to accapt these fears and cope with them.
